Kim Robinson and Earl Lackey Elected To Board
June 17, 2010 — MTA’s Annual Meeting was held Wednesday night on the Alaska State Fairgrounds in Palmer. More than 600 people sat down for an elegant dinner prepared by the Alaska Job Corps Culinary Arts students. Guests also enjoyed seeing MTA product demonstrations, visiting the Mad Science Fun Station and meeting MTA’s celebrity spokesperson, Iditarod musher Martin Buser.
Two directors were elected to serve on the MTA board at last night’s meeting. Winning a 3-year seat was incumbent Kim E. Robinson with 2,968 votes. Winning a 2-year term with 2,053 votes was former Board Member Earl P. Lackey. Other candidates running in this year’s election were
Robert Beans with 1,030 votes and Robert C. Holloway, Jr. who received 1,702 votes.
Earl Lackey will serve as the Chief Governance Officer of the MTA Board. Catherine Fosselman will serve as Secretary of the Board, as decided by a special board meeting that immediately followed the election. Rounding out the 5-person MTA board is Kim Robinson, Chuck Foster and Al Strawn.
The first four proposed amendments to the bylaws passed with a majority of “yes” votes. Members voted down proposal #5. The results of the voting related to amendments:
#1 Move deadline for collection of mail-in ballots – 3,233 yes, 1,023 no.
#2 Set procedures for election challenges – 3,676 yes, 568 no.
#3 Improve process for filling Board vacancies – 3,724 yes, 505 no.
#4 Require conflict of interest disclosures for Board candidates – 3,804 yes, 476 no.
#5 Increase Director fees – 1,087 yes, 3,171 no.
